Thousands Laid Off In California

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California has moved to end a budget crisis by sacking 22,000 state workers and ordering pay cuts for 200,000.

The most populous state in the US faces a budget deficit of more than $15 billion, and legislators are struggling to agree a spending plan.

The cuts, which will save $100m a month, are designed to put pressure on politicians to end the budget crisis.

Like I said in an earlier article, you would think I would be against this.

No way, making California state solvent and not raising taxes for it's citizens is a bold and ballsy move.

I think this is the exact right way to govern a fiscal problem.

I normally hate republican policy but this guy has it right.

This is going to make things happen and fast...I like his style AND his freaky ring.

He goes on, stating his responsibility and accountability to his post.

"This is not an action I take lightly but we do not have a budget and, as governor, I have a responsibility to make sure our state has enough money to pay its bills."

President Bush Is Hiding Something And It Is Probably Against The Law

WASHINGTON - President Bush's top advisers are not immune from congressional subpoenas, a judge ruled Thursday in an unprecedented dispute between the two political branches of the U.S. government.

The House Judiciary Committee wants to question the president's chief of staff, Josh Bolten, and former legal counsel Harriet Miers about the firing in 2006 of nine U.S. attorneys.

But Bush says they are immune from such subpoenas, arguing that Congress can't force them to testify or turn over documents.

There is only one reason anyone ever refuses to talk, they have something to hide.

I have no problem going before congress, why would these folks refuse to go?

It continues:

________________________

White House spokesman Tony Fratto and Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr said they were reviewing the court's opinion and declined immediate comment.

The House earlier this year approved contempt citations against Bolten and Miers. They were cited for refusing to comply with subpoenas demanding documents and testimony in a congressional probe into the firings.

Karl Rove part of controversy
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., then sued the administration over the issue. Not included in the suit was former Bush aide Karl Rove, but Democrats also want him to testify.

Nothing says criminal more than someone, not just anyone but our governing officials, who refuses to show up and testify.

The U.S. is now 10.6 trillion dollars in debt, it will take 27000 years to pay it off at a million dollars a day....and this is how they spend their time at the Whitehouse.

"I ain't gonna tell and you can't make me...nyah nyah nyah!"

Next time you get subpoenaed to go to court just tell them what the president tells them...

"I am immune from such subpoenas. You can't force me to testify"

See how well that works out for you or I.

It's Called A Recession Dumbass

U.S. Economy: Growth Rate Falls Short of Forecasts

The U.S. economy shrank at the end of 2007 and grew less than forecast in this year's second quarter, signaling that the country is in worse shape than investors had anticipated.

``We're in a recession,'' Allen Sinai, chief economist at Decision Economics Inc. in New York, said in a Bloomberg Television interview. ``It's going to widen, it's going to deepen.''

The economy may weaken further as the temporary boost from tax rebates, which aided a pick-up in gross domestic product last quarter from the previous three months, fades. Stocks and the dollar dropped, Treasuries rallied, and traders reduced bets that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates this year.

``This confirms the general picture of weakness, but it is surprising that GDP declined,'' said Martin Feldstein, who headed the National Bureau of Economic Research until June and serves on the group's recession-dating panel. He added that today's figures underscored his estimate that a downturn began in December or January. The last time the economy contracted was in 2001.

The Web Has The Ability To Dispense Justice Without Spin

I saw a good albeit small article today at the Detroit Freepress, source.

It contends that Youtube and videophones have been used as incredibly powerful evidence in court, or just the public court of opinion.

Watch this video, a bicycle rally in NYC and a cop with penis envy or a Napoleon complex or severely repressed homosexual urges or more likely some combination of all three...this cop alleged the bicyclist aimed his bike at him so he had to take him down.

The cyclist was arrested and charged. Later this video surfaced, was seen by about a million people and now the cop had his badge and gun taken from him. The cop is lucky he didn't kill this guy...he'll never work as a cop again...and that makes me glad.

My point here is corruption is everywhere, if we don't watch out for each other we won't get the justice we have a constitutional right to.

This cop in NYC is case in point, he would have gotten away with assault on this innocent man had a video phone and Youtube not been around and more importantly had the good samaritan not taken the few minutes to register at Youtube and post it.

The smoking gun has some great detail about the report and how the cyclist was in jail for 26 hours including a copy of the police report.

Bush Signs New Rules For Spy Agencies - Sells You Out For A Box Of Milk Duds

Bush signs new rules for spy agencies

President Bush has issued an executive order that revises the rules for intelligence agencies and strengthens the authority of the national intelligence director, the White House said Thursday.

"The revised order directs the intelligence community to produce timely, accurate and insightful intelligence with special emphasis on the threats posed by international terrorism and the spread of weapons of mass destruction," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

Executive Order 12333, which lays out the responsibilities of each of the 16 agencies, maintains the decades-old prohibitions on assassination and using unwitting human subjects for scientific experiments, according to a power point briefing given to Congress that was reviewed by The Associated Press. The CIA notoriously tested LSD on human subjects in the 1950s, which was revealed by a Senate investigation in 1977.

The new order gives the national intelligence director, a position created in 2005, new authority over any intelligence information collected that pertains to more than one agency — an attempt to force greater information exchange among agencies traditionally reluctant to share their most prized intelligence. The order directs the attorney general to develop guidelines to allow agencies access to information held by other agencies. That could potentially include the sharing of sensitive information about Americans.

"Today's actions will help create a more effective intelligence community capable of providing the president and his advisers with information necessary to defend our national and homeland security," Perino said.

Source

___________________________________________

Nice...like we could trust them before to do the right thing. Now there is expanded power seated with the National Intelligence Director...let me guess who appoints that position?

What bugs me about Dana Perino is she is a spin doctor...kind of a disgusting career choice if you ask me.

Take the crappiest policies ever made, policies that stomp on your rights a U.S. citizen and explain them in a better light to your fellow U.S. citizens like a kindergarten teacher explaining why we all have to take a nap now.

Starbucks sees 'light at the end of the tunnel'

Capitalism 101

If you expand beyond the ability to logistically support and/or improve the goal(s) you sought to obtain initially, failure is imminent when critical mass is achieved.

I just made that up, wow that sounds good...and I STILL can't get a job.

What all that jazz up there means is this:

You can only expand so much...period...ever...always...with everything
......and then collapse is inevitable.

_________________________

Source

Starbucks explains why the little people pay for big peoples mistakes:

"The results come one day after Starbucks said it will eliminate 1,000 non-retail jobs as part of its efforts to boost profits by cutting costs. The company also previously announced it's closing 600 underperforming stores with the first 50 being shuttered this month."

P.S. under performing is two words not one...and I STILL don't have a job, but I digress.

Just like the sun never sets on the British Empire.

Expansionism WILL inevitably reach a state of critical mass where it will collapse.

The real estate scenario we see in the U.S. is expansionism for financial reasons.

The invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan is expansionism for energy reasons.

Don't get me wrong...I am not anti-American.

I am pro-American, pro-Democratic, pro-Capitalism.

I am anti-how they fucked up my country for greed alone.

Starbucks' expansion (as an example) and U.S. political and economic collapse is analogous of methods and mentalities that got us in the fucked up mess in the first place.

"What?" You say "No way Veritas...it just ain't so."

Let's play a game:

Examine any recent or relatively modern U.S. political or U.S. corporate blunder...ask if they were trying to expand (influence, power, product, whatever) and then reread what I wrote.

Capitalism 101

If you expand beyond the ability to logistically support and/or improve the goal(s) you sought to obtain initially, failure is imminent when critical mass is achieved.

How come I see this and none of my elected officials do?

Oh yeah...Greed.

Rarely Does Anyone Use the D Word - Depression

The recession in the housing market, the worst since the Depression, along with higher fuel prices and a shrinking job market, is weighing on consumers and the economy.

Source

Well they didn't really use it in the context I would have...we are at the edge of a cliff into economic depression is how I see it.

The media by and large will only say recession and won't say depression.

I keep hearing the worst economic times since the 80's, frankly the 80's were not anything like this...I know I was there...

Currently more foreclosures than anytime in the past half century, and still, no one will say the D word.

One definition is:

Source

Question: What is a Depression?

Answer: A depression is a severe economic downturn that lasts several years. Fortunately, the U.S. economy has not experienced a depression since The Great Depression of 1929, which lasted ten years. The GDP growth rates were of a magnitude not seen since:

  1. 1930 -8.6%
  2. 1931 -6.4%
  3. 1932 -13%
  4. 1933 -1.3%.
During the Depression, unemployment was 25% and wages (for those who still had jobs) fell 42%. Total U.S. economic output fell from $103 to $55 billion and world trade plummeted 65% as measured in dollars.
____________________

Well we aren't too far from that, should Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac require the bail out they keep threatening us with....it is my contention this will be all it takes to push the US into depression.

Estimates range from bail out costs to US citizens from $5 billion to over $100 billion.

Source

If the Current population is 302 million and the cost is $100 billion....I can't even figure it out, but I can't afford it.

Discover Card Charges Mob Rates

I just got an application for a discover card from Julie Loeger, Senior VP at Discover Card.

How does she know where I live?

I looked for her picture online but NONE...she is a mystery woman.

I really liked her touching personal letter asking me to get her discover card...I really liked how much she charges if I am late with a payment twice......30.99%

Good God Julie, at least buy me dinner before you do me up the butt.

That is more than the mob charges for me to borrow money.

They run this from Delaware because apparently that state has the most liberal of interest rate laws in the country...yaaaaaaah Delaware for screwing the nation. Does Delaware export anything except assholes in the credit business?

You also by joining agree to arbitration, what that means to us little folk is by signing you give up your constitutional rights to a trial in a court of law with a judge or jury if for example, you ever did want to take the credit card company to court for any claim you may have against them.

But what could possibly go wrong with your credit card bill?

Way to go Julie and Discover Card for helping Americans sign off their constitutional rights in the fine print.

Sure our predecessors fought and died for these rights but you are welcome to make money off getting people to give them up, it's a free country.

I bet Julie has tons of money at those rates. I bet she never has to use a credit card for anything ever if she didn't want to. I bet Julie is quite pleased with herself for what she does to people's lives.

Here watch the Maxed Out trailer on Youtube, I highly recommend this documentary.

See how credit cards have helped people by driving them to suicide.

I think I'll pass on the credit card Julie.

And to be fair to Julie, her company isn't the only one by far. They all do it, Read your card member agreements then zero out your balance.

Economists Lie To Themselves, Makes Them Feel All Warm And Fuzzy During Modern Depression

Freddie Mac can barely afford this lot, they have been collecting bottles to pay the lease on the land I think, no wait, they received a federal bail out, I forgot.

Fannie Mae had to get another less expensive lawn service since business is so bad, they look like they are in a pretty bad way, this place is way run down.

Bear Stearns is going to have to sell off a couple of floors no doubt...times are tough for them. Well not really, instead of them having to sell and move like the little people, you and I are going to pay for their inability to do their job right instead. It's just easier that way.

Home prices fell at record pace in May: S&P

Source

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Prices of U.S. single-family homes plunged at a record pace in May from a year earlier, with each of the 20 regions monitored showing annual declines for a second month, according to the Standard & Poor's/Case Shiller home price indexes reported on Tuesday.

The S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas fell 0.9 percent in May from April, bringing the measure down 15.8 percent from May 2007.

The decline was slightly less than expected and not as severe on a monthly basis as in April. Seven regions showed increases on a month-over-month basis, providing a "possible bright spot" for U.S. housing that otherwise continues to weaken, S&P said.

"We are not going to get too excited about the data yet as it is not seasonally adjusted and prices tend to be higher during the spring selling season," said Michelle Meyer, an economist at Lehman Brothers in New York.

That's my favorite part...where she says she isn't going to get too excited...this lady is paid for this intellect?

What a moron, the country is in the worst economic state ever since the recession of the 80's and she sees a bright spot in the housing market as values on your home and mine drop 16%?

I don't know about you but that means several tens of thousands of dollars I just lost...bright spot?

Maybe for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Bear Stearns

But not for me...or you... or our neighbors...or our families.

DUH.

Remind me not to seek any financial advice from Lehman Brothers.

United American - Let's Sell Some God Dang Insurance

Yet another job offer site unseen came to me unsolicited today, this one from United American.

I am getting to the point where I am just going to start calling these folks back to fuck with them, act mentally disabled or something...ask if I had "a friend" who was a convicted pedophile would that hold back any potential career opportunities at United American?

Why is it the ONLY two industries in the US that are profiting (aside from military suppliers) are the health industry (because all the baby boomers are at that age) and the insurance industry?

So we have those that are sick and dying and those who are not sick and dying in the business of taking care of the sick or dying.

And by taking care of, as far as insurance companies are concerned, that means getting fucked by said insurance companies.

The LAST place I want to be on Earth is working for a insurance company whose sole purpose in the world is taking money in, NOT paying it out.

They couldn't make it any clearer.

Just look at the amount of people both YOU and I know who have had to take their insurer to court...we ALL know someone, the insurance company NEVER....NEVER.....NEVER...has a problem taking the money from your paycheck, it's a flawless process.

But if you ever need to make a claim...good God look out...it's like your the first one to ask and everyone thinks you just got out of prison for insurance fraud.

If any of you work for the insurance industry, take a long look at your life, it will come back to bite you on the ass, it always does.

Does Your Daughter Want A Hannah Montana Brain Tumor?

Cell phones cause cancer...great.

Source

SUNDAY July 27, 2008 (foodconsumer.org) -- Ronald B. Herberman, MD at The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute sent out an email last week to colleagues warning them of the potential risk of using cell phones.

Dr. Herberman is the first Director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, who helped discover natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxicity against tumors in the early 1970s. Stimulation of the natural killer activity would inhibit metastases. He has also played a leading role in the development of several other important aspects of tumor immunology.

He gave the following advice to limit exposure to electromagnetic radiation emitted by cell phones:

Do not allow children to use a cell phone except for emergencies. Children are more sensitive to radiation because their bodies/organs are developing.

When using cell phones, make sure to keep the phones as far away from the ear as possible by what means you can employ.

Avoid using cell phone in the public places like in a bus where other people would be passively exposed to your phone's electromagnetic fields.

Avoid carrying your cell phone on your body at all times and don't keep it near your body at night. Or just simply shut it off to stop electromagnetic emissions.

If you have to carry your cell phone, make sure that the keypad faces your body;

If you have to use cell phone, use it briefly to establish a talk, but use a land line corded phone to have a long conversation.

Put your cell phone to the ear only after the correspondent picks up your call. When using cell phone, switch sides often.

Avoid using cell phone in areas where signal is weak or you are in a car or train. In situations like that, strong radiation will be needed to send the signal, exposing the user to high doses of radiation.

Whenever possible, use text messaging instead of making a call.

If you are buying a cell phone, buy one with lowest SAR possible (SAR=Specific Absorption Rate).

Don't worry folks, the government tests these things, there is no way they could be bad.

I mean cigarettes and alcohol are legal right?

But maybe this is God's way of telling us to get the fuck off the phone and pay attention to the world, it's a cool place.

I can't begin to tell you the countless times I have seen people out for a walk in the palk or wherever "ON THE PHONE" C'mon i'ts not like your talking a plane down because the pilot had a heart attack, you took a walk in the park to be alone for a moment so be fucking alone!

I can pretty much guess the whole critical conversation of these people...

What are you doing?

Nothing, What are you doing?

Walking in the park.

What you doing later?

Nothing, what you doing later?

Nothing.

Want to get together?

Sure but you better call me 8 times before to confirm.

Ok, Let me ask if my girl wants to go, I can call you right back...whoops...hang on I got another call....Hello?....Nothing. What are you doing?

Jobless rates the highest in 20 years.

Federal bail outs for businesses too stupid or greedy to run efficiently, or legally, or morally, or ethically.

A war on two fronts, Afghanistan and Iraq, which has been a military no-no since Sun-Tzu.

CEO's of major industries making grotesque profits while normal workers suffer to the point of hunger or homelessness.

Suspension of constitutional rights in the name of homeland security.

Energy consumption outstripping the capability of the world to provide.

If Your Friends With The Mayor, Shit Happens In Your Favor

The pretrial hearing in Southfield’s 46th District Court for Bobby Ferguson, a Detroit contractor charged with drunken driving, was adjourned today until Aug. 26.

His attorney Brian Stacey plans to file a motion to suppress the tests administered by the Southfield Police Department to Ferguson to check his blood alcohol levels after he was arrested. Assistant City Attorney Bonnie Fitch said the first test came back invalid and a second test was administered two or three minutes later. Stacey said officers should have waited at least 15 minutes before administering the second test.

Fitch said that it’s suggested, but not mandatory, that officers wait 15 minutes after an invalid test before administering another. She said it’s unlikely that the results will get thrown out.

Ferguson – whose companies have come under scrutiny for receiving millions of dollars from the City of Detroit for work on projects – had a blood-alcohol level of .20%, more than twice the limit at which someone can be convicted of drunken driving in Michigan.

The investigators had gone to the home of Kilpatrick's sister, Ayanna, and her husband, Daniel Ferguson, to deliver a subpoena to Bobby Ferguson, a relative of Daniel Ferguson's and a close friend of Kilpatrick's. Bobby Ferguson is on the list of witnesses Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy expects to call for the mayor's criminal trial.

White said they had not intended to deliver the subpoena to Bobby Ferguson at that time but were in the neighborhood delivering another subpoena and saw a pickup truck with "Ferguson Construction" on the door. He checked the address and approached the home, he said.

White noticed the mayor's police bodyguards outside the house. He said he flashed his badge, got their OK to proceed and rang the doorbell.

White was told Ferguson wasn't there. Then the detective said he heard a loud voice inside the house.

"It happened so fast. We were just trying to find Bobby Ferguson," Kinney said. "I couldn't believe this was happening. ... He was irate, very mad, upset."

Kinney, who is black, testified that the mayor criticized her for working with White, who is white.

"'You should be ashamed of yourself,'" she quoted Kilpatrick as saying. "'Why are you a part of this?'"

White testified Kilpatrick said, "'You shouldn't even be riding in a car with a guy named White.'"

Foreclosure Filings Up 120% - GO GO TEAM REPUBLICANS!

220,000 homes were lost to bank repossessions in the second quarter, and the annual forecast for 2008 will have to be revised upward.
As foreclosures continue to soar, 220,000 homes were lost to bank repossessions in the second quarter, according to a housing market report Friday issued by RealtyTrac.

That's nearly triple the number from the same period in 2007.

A total of 739,714 foreclosure filings were recorded during that three-month period, up 14% from the first quarter, and 121% from the same period in 2007. That means that one of every 171 U.S. households received a filing, which include notices of default, auction sale notices and bank repossessions.

Detroit continued to suffer more than any other non-Sun Belt area, with one filing for every 66 households. And several Ohio cities were also hard hit, led by Toledo (one in 92 households), Akron (one in 93) and Cleveland (one in 108).

Detroit? Yaaaahh thats us!

What no one has compared yet is very nearly the same exact economic conditions that are occurring now in the U.S. are those that occurred just prior to World War II in the U.S. and more eerily in Germany.

Mark my words. The U.S. Government will now be considering war as a viable economic option because it stimulates economic growth and the U.S has ravenous energy needs that predispose the U.S. to military intervention to countries that have oil as a natural resource.

Although the reasons given for war will actually be much different.

National security for example or Border control or the proliferation of Democracy.

"Wait!" you say. "we're in Iraq and Afghanastan to ensure Democracy will take hold and free the peoples of those countries from tyranny!"

If that's truly the case why aren't we attacking Sweden? Those commie bastards are just asking for it.

But what's missing in Sweden besides Democracy? Oh yes, they have no oil.

War is big business, bigger than the entire U.S. GNP and more reliable.

Be aware of the military industrial complex when you see it. It comes in many disguises.

State Police To Probe Alleged Assault By Detroit Mayor - You Or I Would Have Been Beaten To A Pulp By Now

State police to probe alleged assault by Detroit mayor

The Michigan State Police are investigating a possible assault by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on a deputy accompanying a process server Thursday at the home of the mayor's sister, Sheriff Warren Evans said.

Evans said the mayor allegedly pushed a sheriff's deputy and knocked him into a process server who was working for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. The subpoena was for Bobby Ferguson, a city contractor and close friend of Kilpatrick.

Source

This isn't the first time he has done something like this, Kwame has pushed many a reporter, caught on video several times doing just that.

Only this time he didn't know it wasn't just another citizen, it was a plain clothed cop.

Let me comment on this with the following.

HA HA HA HA...HAHA.... HA HA HA

What a stupid tool and bully, this is how he operates, bulldoze and intimidate but like with any bully they eventually are exposed for how small they really are.

Oh yeah, he has to be in court tomorrow concerning what has been commonly referred to as the text/sex scandal...you can't see but I am rolling my eyes so hard the world is spinning.

California's State Workers Face Pay Cuts - Arnold Schwarzeneger Is My New Hero

California's state workers face pay cuts

Arnold Schwarzenegger is threatening to slash the salaries of California state employees to the federal minimum wage to keep the state solvent amid a deepening cash crisis.

Source

At first glance you would think I would be enraged by this policy tactic, admittedly I am unsure about it but I do know one thing.

Michigan state workers sit on their collective asses all day and laugh at those of us in the private sector.

Don't deny it, I have seen it, I have heard it, I have been impacted by it.

Yes I have waited in line and took a number.

What the #$%&! kind of business uses the "take a number" method anyway?

Only 3, the baker, the butcher (if you can find one) and the Michigan Secretary of State.

That's how archaic and non-accountable for service level the Secretary of State is, they use paper numbers here in Michigan folks.

Who else among us has waited in line at the Secretary of State (Michigan's version of what many states call the DMV.) and wished, nay prayed the day would come when those behind the counter got paid by straight commissions rather than by the hour?

How fast would lines move if every worker got a buck for every automobile license plate they issued? It would be like a McDonald's drive thru....EVEN FASTER.

I think it may be actually be a good idea to make department heads accountable to ensure those subordinate to them are fiscally solvent. After all isn't that how it goes in the real world?

Here in Michigan getting a job with the state is like getting a golden ticket from Willie Wonka's lottery, you won't have to take your job seriously ever again because you would have to walk in to work nude, drunk, holding a gun in one hand and your dick in the other to get fired from a state job.

Yes Arnold is a republican, but I won't hold that against him.

This decision shows some balls, he does not actually think its going to happen I don't think, he is just doing it to drive the California legislative body to come to a fiscal decision to make the state of California fiscally solvent.

I bet it works, everyone who works for the state out in Cali is probably going totally nuts.

That means shit will happen and soon.

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Wants to Keep Spank Bank Texts Secret.

DETROIT -- Lawyers for Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and former chief of staff Christine Beatty have demanded to know what new information Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy will reveal before the end of the month.

Lawyers for Kilpatrick on Wednesday filed court papers asking 36th District Judge Ronald Giles for an emergency hearing Friday -- the same day the judge has said he will decide on the release of many, if not most, of the 625,000 text messages offered as evidence in criminal proceedings against Kilpatrick and Beatty.

Source

What a frigging joke, this ass doesn't want to know what Kim Worthy has found in the text documents, he already has a good idea since he texted it.

Kwame Kilpatrick just wants to delay the texts ever seeing the light of day in court.

This "Mayor" keeps costing and costing and costing the city money and the state any respect it has left with his lies and subterfuge.

When will he step up and be a man?

Alan Mullaly Gets Millions To Fail, What Do You Make Per Year?

Ford Has $8.7 Billion Loss, Shifts Away From Trucks (Update4)
July 24 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co., the world's third- biggest automaker, posted a record quarterly loss of $8.7 billion and accelerated a conversion to fuel-efficient vehicles to wean itself from money-losing trucks.

Source from Bloomberg

The revamping is a response to record gasoline prices that have ravaged sales of large pickups and sport-utility vehicles and derailed Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally's turnaround plan.

Alan Mulally went on to say "DUH DUH DUH, DUH DUH DUH DUH" then proceeded to take his finger out of his nose and taste it.

Just kidding but I figure if Al can make that amount of money for being a total fuck up, he can take some ribbing from me, one of the great unwashed masses.

Alan made 28 million for 4 months of work, and I mean back breaking, sweaty, ditch digging work too, in the sun all day, wearing a do-rag work, just like a farmer. What did you make and how hard do you work for it? Bet its not as hard as the work as Al does for his paltry pay.

Ford CEO: $28M for 4 months work

Former Boeing exec got $18.5 million bonus, almost $9 million in stock and options and base salary at annual $2 million rate.

Struggling Ford Motor Co., which posted a record $12.7 billion net loss in 2006, gave its new CEO Alan Mulally $28 million for four months on the job, according to the company's proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday.

The Ford (Charts) pay package for Mulally comes on top of the $7.4 million that aerospace company Boeing (Charts) had previously reported paying him for his eight months running that company's commercial aircraft unit before he made the move to Ford at the beginning of September.

Alan Mullaly is hereby nominated for Detroit Daily Dirt's Tool Of The Year Award.

In 2005, Michigan's state population was 10,120,860, so if Al made 28 million every 4 months let's say just for fun, thats 124 million per year OR, drum roll please..... $12.25 for every man, woman and child in Michigan. Probably more per person since so many people have left Michigan since 2005

Personally I think the money would have been better spent and put back into the economy had everyone in the state got their 12 bucks.

I love putting shit in perspective.

This guy took the time to set up a domain name.
Ameriprisesuck.com

This one spells out some miscellaneous experiences from people.
What does it take to work at Ameriprise?

A whole forum of people
Amexsux.com

They got my name from monster.com according to their email reroute information. Which pisses me off.

I have zero financial experience, nada, zip, zilch, goose egg.

If a company wants me for a position such as financial advisor with my level of financial experience it's probably not the wisest decision on either of our parts.

Woman Facing Foreclosure Commits Suicide

And so it begins...

BOSTON -- A Taunton woman committed suicide Tuesday hours before her mortgage company was scheduled to auction off her home.

Carlene Balderrama, 53, sent a fax to her mortgage company threatening suicide earlier in the day. The company was planning to sell her foreclosed home at 5 p.m.

Police found Balderrama dead in her home at 103 Duffy Drive after employees at the mortgage company who received the fax called police.

Officials said that in a suicide note found next to her body, Balderrama told her husband and son to "take the insurance money and pay for the house."

See source for entire story

One day someone is going to take a gun to their mortgage company headquarters.

I don't condone it, I don't advise it...but I would understand it.

The Underground Economy

Being part of the recently unemployed masses here in Michigan, a little more worldly now than say ten years ago, I have found the underground economy.

It raises some ethical questions. Why? Because the law can't stand it.

The underground economy for those who don't know is the transfer of monies or services without record or taxation applied.

I have heard of this before but never in action as much as it is now.

I have heard "rumors" of doctors avoiding the hassle of the insurance claim system and the atrocious effect the insurance industry has on health care on the whole, and taking goods and services in it's stead for treatment rendered.

Re-read the above paragraph, I said doctors. This isn't just those malpractice magnets you imagined when you read the above, this is leaders in their fields at prestigious hospitals.

This is disturbing, for one I would COMMEND any doctor willing to take this path showing care for those uninsured or unable to afford coverage for health treatment or more often than not, not covered by some technicality of the insurance company.

But back to point. Aside from my theoretical example of the underground economy above, this occurs in virtually every business field in existence in one form or another.

A tile contractors completes some work for a another contractor without cost, the contractor later gives the tile guy a new set of tile cutters he came across.

A guy fixes someones computer for a case of beer.

A hairdresser cuts hair for free for a year but gets their salon painted for free....you get the idea

This has always happened so what's the big deal?

Well now it's happening with high level professional fields where previously it would have been considered unethical or immoral but now seen as a viable resolution to the increasing ridiculous demands of bureaucracy, red tape, the criminal insurance industry or the crippled economy as a whole.

Read that again, this means the economy is now significantly more fucked up than its ever been.

But this again has always been happening. Big business has ALWAYS used it.

What? Think I am making that up?

Just ask the bidder who takes a potential client to the tittie bar for a few free lap dances if this has ever happened in big business.
They will let you know ALL about it. How much it cost them, how they explained the cost on the books and how it got them the contract in the end.

I knew one guy who always demanded being taken to Hooters for business meetings.
How lame is that? But I digress.

The higher the office, the bigger and usually more criminal the underground economy transfer.

But when normal, ethical citizens decide this is the way to go, since it's the only way they can survive month to month, it can be seen as a huge flashing red light indicator that the "above board" economy is headed for the toilet el pronto.

Strangely enough there is very little on the underground economy I could find on the net.

I am not saying its not talked about but it just doesn't seem to be a hot topic.
More of a scholastic argument for a thesis paper or someone hawking their book on it.

Here was a relatively good one though from 2002

So whats my point? I guess I don't really have much of one other than this is yet another indicator of the poor ass economy.

If "I" start to see it with how limited my "streetwise" capabilities are, it must be pretty prevalent.

Where do you see it?

Illegal activities? Under the counter deals? Swapping services? Grandma not claiming her casino winnings?

Primerica

Today I received my 2nd rip off company asking me to work for them.

Primerica

A quick search pulled up this:

Pissedconsumer.com

Plenty of people went into how this company raised rates up 400% for customers and pulled automatically from the checking accounts of it's employees for 800 numbers, web sites, etc. etc. etc.

The Primerica company has a snazzy looking website with a lot of content in the link above. Almost looks legit. Almost.

The guy who wrote me to try and recruit me wrote from a yahoo account.

C'mon your going to have to try a little harder than that you morons.

I am quickly getting disheartened in my search for employment.

On the plus side I found a new website for job searchs:

Indeed.com

I like it a lot and recommend it currently.

Mayor Kilpatrick Plays Race Card, Has Whole Deck Appearantly

Source

Detroit is possibly the most racist city I have ever been to. Why is it every scandal has to be defended with the race card? or at the least accusations or innuendo of racism.

Here is some of Mayor Kilpatrick's blather and ranting:

"I think the prosecutor's case is going to hell quickly," the mayor said at a morning press conference to announce Labor Day celebrations at Campus Martius in downtown Detroit. "She's definitely trying to poison the jury pool. ... Her hope is that the racism of this region will convict me."

This coming from a man whom in the text messages to one of his mistresses, Former Mayoral Assistant and junk slobber groupie, Christine Beatty, commonly referred to each other with the affectionate term "my nigga"

Source

Kwame Kilpatrick to Christine Beatty: "Hell no! Don't start none. Won't be none niggette! LOL"

CB to KK: "I look forward to it. It's official, I need a night. How about you? You don't need to answer now. Enjoy the game."

KK to CB: "Shit. I need it real bad."

KK to CB: "My nigga! I love you, you know that."

CB to KK: "Yep! Ditto! You know that?"

KK to CB: "More than you could ever know!"

Yeah, sure Kwame, the suburbs are racist and would contaminate the jury pool...whatever....be a man and own up to where your little head has thought for your big head.

People In Michigan Are In The Dark About Gas

People In Detroit Are Possibly Mentally Retarded

Source

Michigan voters say high gas prices cramp their style, favor more drilling
Mark Hornbeck and Charlie Cain / Detroit News Lansing Bureau

Discouraged Michiganians , who believe the sputtering U.S. economy is worsening, say gas prices are cutting into their lifestyles and they're willing to embrace a broad array of solutions including offshore drilling to bring fuel costs down, according to a Detroit News/WXYZ-Action News poll.

Seven in 10 voters said soaring fuel costs -- at $4.09 a gallon for regular this week -- are having a significant or major impact on their lives and are swaying two-thirds of residents to back offshore drilling in Florida, California and other states with ocean shorelines.

Nearly half said they'd even favor drilling for oil and gas along the Great Lakes.

I won't go into this too much, lest it be said, Detroit and Michigan have virtually NO public transit, no elevated trains (the people mover is a joke.), no subways, no bus system to speak of, no taxi cabs.

They want gas? No shit they want gas...future planning by all previously elected officials was TOTALLY negligent in forecasting what a major metro area needs in terms of public transit.

Detroit and Michigan wants gas, damn straight they do...THERE IS NO OTHER VIABLE OPTION!

So Michiganians (or Michiganders depending on which rag you read, they are both owned by the same corporate tools and are the only papers in town.) would be willing to look at (smell, deal with pollution, wildlife devastation.) an offshore rig in the great lakes as long as they get 2 cents off their gas...this is why incest is illegal, it produces morons.

Aside from other less learned persons in Michigan, I HAVE been around the country, every other major city I have been to puts Detroit to SHAME with their level of public transit...the motor city is a moniker that may be deserved but has been a curse for the last 30 years.

OK, So Whats This Gonna Cost?

Source

WASHINGTON — The proposed government rescue of the nation’s two mortgage finance giants should appear on the federal budget as a $25 billion expense, the independent Congressional Budget Office said on Tuesday, but officials conceded that there was no way to really know what, if anything, a bailout might cost taxpayers.

What What WHAT ?!?!?

Federal budget dollars do not come from republican Narnia, they come from us, it's citizens... NOWHERE ELSE...is all of Washington retarded?

Current US population is:
303,824,646 (July 2008 est.)

Source
(Source is the CIA so it must be true, why would they lie?)

SO...According to the total population from tiny infant to iron lung elderly, we each owe $82.28.

(Let me rephrase this: you start a business, fail, then ask for $82.28 from everyone in the country to make it all better, NOW does it sound wrong?)

82 bucks doesn't sound like much until you figure it's only because of greed by two (2) corporations.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. How stupid are these names anyhow? I suppose they are there to make them sound friendly, like a neighbor from down the block, might give me a brewski during a BBQ...or ask for $82 dollars from every fucking living, tax paying organism in the United States because their executive officers were too fucking greedy and knew, KNEW a government bail out would be a prime requisite because the potential damage would be too great to the U.S. to ignore and since they had virtually NO REGULATION from the elected officials whom they previously lobbied HEAVILY, so it couldn't be blamed on the the officers of the corporations and they can walk away (WALK AWAY) with grotesque profits....whew I feel better.

No actually I don't.

It makes me sick.

What if I have to pay this a year or two from now, (by pay I mean make the over paid executive failures go away.) adjusted for inflation which could run into depression levels at any minute?

2010 = $200?
2015=$1000?
When? When do we pay and how much will it be adjusted for inflation? How rich will the executive officers of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae be then?

Will they be criminally liable? HA HA HA I know just kidding, they give to campaigns, they are not punished by officials they elected.

My Only Call For A Job From A Rip Off Company

Well I finally get a call for an interview, Universal Gas and Electric they want to meet me for an interview, cool I think.

During the call the secretary (not administrative assistant, a secretary is a secretary get over it.) did a couple of things wrong that set my radar off.

She mentioned that her boss got my resume of yahoo hot jobs or something of the sort, no they didn't.

I never posted it there, I applied off another site, Michigan Career Builder, they of course had it described in a sufficiently ambiguous way as to make the nature of the business totally impossible to determine.

Secondly she wanted me to make sure I brought a valid state ID with me as they like to hire on the spot.

No self respecting company hires on the spot and they certainly don't ask prospects to make sure they bring valid ID, it's an assumption you aren't a felon or totally retarded.

So I look up the company, find their corporate web site , ok no problem there but any 13 year old can set up a damn good web site in about 20 minutes.

I dig deeper and oh the complaints, seems this company has been ripping off folks for years.

Here are some samples of their delightful customer service record.

I think I am going to pass on this one, it's hard enough finding a job without having this on my resume.

Just How Bad Off Is Detroit In Dollars?

Just how bad of is Detroit in a language we can all understand?

The Detroit riots of 1967 cost an estimated $50,000,000 in loss.

The current deficit for the district of Detroit is $400,000,000.

Thats a cost 8 times greater that what a race riot caused.

Detroit has no deficit reduction plan, no budget plan, no elected official even making note of this fact and proposing anything in the way of a solution.

Metropolitan Division Unemployment (Not Seasonally Adjusted)

In May, the Detroit-Warren-Livonia, Mich., metropolitan area posted unemployment rates: Detroit-Livonia-Dearborn, 10.2 percent.

Nationally, The number of unemployed persons was essentially unchanged in June, at 8.5 million, and the unemployment rate held at 5.5 percent.

In real numbers that means, everywhere else unemployment is 1 of every 20 people, in Detroit it's 1 of every 10 people.

Way to go Detroit and more importantly way to go citizens of Detroit, whom have shown incredible ignorance and bigotry in electing a totally unqualified Mayor and City Council solely on the basis of race. Your elected officials have sunk the city into a depression of economy only seen in third world countries.

What's Wrong With This Statement?

2.2 million people are incarcerated in the U.S. More than 1 in 100 American adults were incarcerated at the start of 2008. The People's Republic of China ranks second with 1.5 million, despite having over four times the population of the US

This was a blurb on the news at the beginning of 2008, hardly a iota of concern from the population on the whole.

The United States (A.K.A. land of the free, home of the brave) has 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's incarcerated population.

This is now more than a form of punishment for crimes committed, this is a full blown industry employing thousands if not hundreds of thousands rivaling even the largest of automakers and other companies that actually produce goods.

From the agents and police used in investigations and arrests to the judicial administrative staff need to process the prisoner to the guard staff needed to incarcerate to the food services staff needed for delivery to the agriculture area needed to grow the food to the weapons manufacturer needed to supply the guards with weapons and potentially the criminals to initiate the crime to the construction staff who build and maintain the prison to the architectural resources for the design to the mining company for the concrete and steel to the auctioneers to dispense of seized assets from homes to boats to guns to art to.....you see the picture?

What politician would have the balls to cut it by 50%? It would be political suicide to tell that amount of voters that he or she will be moving to end their jobs imprisoning their fellow citizens.

Only in America.

Governor Granholm Profile Of A Canadian Tool

It was recently reported that Michigan's Governor Granholm rode a bicycle and took a bus to work. This was touted as a way to save money for the state.

Is she serious? What did she save aside from private money on a PR campaign? 10 bucks in gas?

There are people in Michigan who take the bus daily to work Governor, those who have jobs but still cannot afford a car because they are putting food on the table.

Would the Governor wait for 45 minutes at a bus stop in below freezing weather to go to work like so many Michiganders do daily in winter? I think not.

It was also proposed earlier this year for the state governing bodies work for 4 days a week instead of 5 to save money the state doesn't have. What a crock of shit! How about working 20 days a month without pay to get some business in the state?

Save the bike ride Governor, I'll give you the 5 bucks in gas money to make sure your butt is in the office as long as you do your job and bring some business to the state.

What a tool.

As a side note for those who may not know:
Volkswagen chose Tennessee for their new billion dollar plant location and not Michigan, good job Governor!
