President Bush on Tuesday commanded lawmakers to lift a ban on offshore oil drilling, saying "the only thing standing between the American people and these vast oil resources is action from the U.S. Congress."

Nice way to play the blame game, this is the same line of bullshit that has us looking for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

"The sooner Congress lifts the ban, the sooner we can get these resources from the ocean floor to the refineries, to the gas pump," the king of the United States said.

"Democratic leaders have been delaying action on offshore exploration, and now they have an opportunity to show that they finally heard the frustrations of the American people," Baby Bush said. "They should match the action I have taken, repeal the congressional ban and pass legislation to facilitate responsible offshore exploration."

Aren't his buddies who run the support businesses for the war making enough money? I guess he wants his oil company buddies to make some serious coin too, even though prices wouldn't be effected for at least ten years, it isn't like you throw these offshore rigs into place and BOING! , oils comes springing out.

Bush also wanted the U.S. to land on Mars, a pale imitation of Kennedy's man on the moon objective during his tenure but for Bush it went over like a PR lead balloon. Besides this just another pathetic smoke and mirrors strategy to blind everyone to the thousands of dead Americans on his failed and flawed mid-east policies and a crumbling economy for a country that was at the end of the Clinton administration in the black for national debt.

This "blame the democrats for oil buried under the sea floor" is the same thing. Sorry Georgie I won't be falling for it, your a loser of epic proportions that history will make note of and thousands dead cry from their graves at your political agenda attempts at distraction.

If we can't put some serious research into a new and viable energy source that WON'T profit his oil company buddies we won't be going to Mars anytime soon OR bring gas prices down with oil rigs that won't be surveyed, built, towed and in place for another decade.

"Since the first of this year, our progress has been threatened as U.S. economic challenges become (more) difficult," said Wagoner, calling higher fuel costs a structural change, not a cyclical change, to which the automaker must adapt. Who is is kidding? Even the lowest blue collar worker among us has know for years that the economy was limping in Detroit, FOR YEARS RICK! Do you even know how much a gallon of milk costs us little people? What a tool.

• A 20 percent reduction in salaried worker costs through a variety of means including normal attrition, early retirement and voluntary separation programs.

Guessing 20% of the top executive staff will NOT be removed, I figure middle management.

• Cutting health-care coverage effective Jan. 1, 2009 for Medicare-eligible salaried retirees, partially offset by increased pension payments.

Stealing from those retirees whom worked their whole lives for your company, this guy is like Mother Theresa. How is this even legal?

• No pay raises for salaried workers through the end of 2009.

HA HA HA, Like this was even going to happen anyhow.

• No discretionary bonuses for executives.

Make note of this one, I bet this is total bullshit, I see a big bonus in his future.

• Cutting and consolidating sales and marketing budgets, including motorsports activity.

Cut ALL commercial promo and marketing activity Rick, let your product sell itself on quality alone, oh wait thats crazy. You won't sell a hundred units that way.

• Holding engineering spending to 2006-07 levels through the end of 2009.

Screw that, increase engineering spending and make a revolutionary hybrid everyone will actually want. Dare to be a leader and not a follower Rick, it's not like your going to ever end up homeless.

• Reducing capital spending.

So your going to fly coach?

• Suspending the dividend on common stock, to save $800 million through 2009.

Thats COMMON stock, In other words what you and I can buy. Executives get a different type of stock which appears will NOT have dividends suspended per this quote.

GM Takes A Dump, Workers Are The Toilet Paper

GM today gave a live newscast here in Detroit, Chairman Rick Wagoner, announced how bad it's going in such a weird way as to put a optimistic spin on it. I guess that's why he makes the big bucks. Certainly not for his total lack of vision on the economy and the future of energy as it applies to the auto industry.

The GM situation is a prime example of the vanity of the auto industry in thinking the sky will always be blue and payroll for the upper echelon can be as high as wanted.
