Cheney uses fear to promote political agenda

Dick Cheney comes out from the crypt and throws criticism at his elected successors.

source

Here's the skinny on Dick Cheney's rant....Obama's failing because see this one nut job got through...I told you...I told you....you didn't listen did you?...but I told you.

Listen Dick, there will always be a lunatic fringe, just take a look in the mirror.

This guy got through and thank God didn't have the sense, ability, luck on his side to succeed

HARDLY a platform to come out of retirement from whatever board your sitting on now to hurl hindsight, sideline criticism.

As I recall 9/11 happened on your watch....not the current sitting President.

White house communications director , Dan Pfeiffer sums it up well I think:

"For seven years after 9/11, while our national security was overwhelmingly focused on Iraq -- a country that had no al Qaeda presence before our invasion -- Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda's leadership was able to set up camp in the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan, where they continued to plot attacks against the United States."

Cheney and his boy toy Bush had very nearly installed a permanent, illegal and immoral military-industrial coop that almost ruined this country by taking rights away from law abiding American citizens and rendering most of the countries population financially precarious in the process with de-regulating their pals on wall street and in the mortgage industry AND Al-Qaeda was able to get through with a effective, undetected and successful attack on U.S. soil.

Way to go Dick.

Since Dick's arm chair coaching seems to be based on the "hind sight is 20/20" mentality perhaps he would appreciate the same burning examination of his track record?

Dick Cheney is what the fore-fathers of this nation wanted to protect us from.

Dick Cheney is lucky his isn't in one of his illegal prisons for high crimes against the state.

Average IQ In Detroit Is Lower Than Most 3rd World Nations

Detroiters I am now convinced, are far dimmer than most of the country if not the world.

Not having enough of their elected "leaders " participating in crime, graft, blackmail, sex scandals, perjury, bullying, etc, etc, etc...they have now decided to throw convicted murderers into the mix.

Ex-con Detroit council candidate seeks second chance

Raphael Johnson was the high school quarterback and homecoming king. He threw it away over a piece of cake, his ego and a gun.

At a private birthday party on a cool night in November 1992, a fight erupted after Johnson and friends playfully tussled over cake. He and three others were escorted outside to Wyoming Street. In the commotion, a chaperone, Terrell Eastman, knocked Johnson to the ground.

Johnson was ashamed. A friend had a pistol in the car. Johnson fired when he thought he saw a man reaching for a gun. Instead, he shot Johnny Havard, 40, a man in the alley cleaning up some trash, in the face and legs.

"I saw the man and I blindly shot the gun in his direction and (Havard) ended up dying, a man I never knew (and) never said anything to me," said Johnson, who attended Detroit Jesuit High School.

No he didn't "end up dying" you killed him, don't start bending the facts until you get into office.

Didn't you see how Kwame, Christine, Monica, and Sam did it?

Seventeen years later -- including 12 in prison for second-degree murder -- Johnson, 34, is a finalist in the Nov. 3 City Council election.

Welcome to Detroit

Admirers like Police Chief Warren Evans call Johnson a "prime example" of the promise of rehabilitation, a family man with two children who earned two college degrees and spent his years outside of prison motivating youngsters and organizing neighborhood watches.

But should his second chance include running the city?

Ummm No, kinda a no brainer don't you think?

The debate has percolated since Johnson emerged this month as one of 18 candidates to advance past the primary for the nine-member panel. His story of redemption and hope resonates in a city with nearly 17,000 felons -- including one, Charlie Beckham, who is Mayor Dave Bing's top aide, and another, Tom Barrow, who is Bing's challenger.

Do you believe this? Is every 3rd person working for the city a felon?

Are you unemployed? Perhaps you need a stint in prison to get ahead in Detroit?

Detractors say the city is sick of criminals, pointing to former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and ex-Councilwoman Monica Conyers who were charged with felonies in office. Johnson points to TV Judge Greg Mathis and world-renowned surgeon Benjamin Carson, two Detroit icons who were lawless as teens and then led exemplary lives.

Lawless?...did they commit murder too?

"If Detroiters don't see the need to give a man like me who's redeemed himself beyond what anybody has ever wrote about or portrayed on a Hollywood screen, then what does it say to the thousands of men and women who come home who just want to do the right thing?" asked Johnson, who has a side job with Maury Povich counseling troubled teens on TV.

PULLEEZE...I do not base all MY decisions on what I have seen or not seen on television or in the movies.

Judge Mathis, Maury Povich, TV, Movies...is this argument valid against common sense?

Detroit, like other cities in Michigan, has no law against onetime felons serving in office. Johnson finished 15th in a field of 268, collecting nearly 11,000 votes.

"That reflects poorly on the city that our leaders are criminals," said Marcus Harris, who lives downtown. "The last thing we need is another criminal on City Council."

THANK YOU Marcus Harris!

Should you choose to run you already have my vote as you are apparently smarter than most of Detroit.

The issue is so charged that the state's oldest African-American newspaper, the Michigan Chronicle, devoted its front page last week responding to critics of its endorsement of Johnson. ARISE Detroit! founder Luther Keith said he hears the naysayers, but they just don't know Johnson's body of work.

...Really?

...and your serious Michigan Chronicle?

...who on your staff had a family member murdered by a person who is now running for a major Detroit political office?

"I'm not saying every person who did something similar should be turned loose on society and let them run for City Council. (But) I know Raphael Johnson and those folks don't," said Keith, a former Detroit News editor.

Efforts to reach Havard's relatives were unsuccessful, but his mother said at the sentencing she could never forgive Johnson.

I am positive the Havard's are pleased as punch that Johnson's life has just soared while their loved one's life was snuffed out over a piece of cake.

Setting a new path
( or how to win at politics in Detroit while getting free college degrees in prison )

Johnson was a baby when his father went to prison. Johnson was first arrested at 12, then turned around the first time after winning a scholarship to the private Detroit Jesuit.

He went to prison on the same day he was to start at Marygrove College, spending six years in solitary confinement -- an experience he calls his "college dorm."

The Nation of Islam member read about Nelson Mandela, Marcus Garvey, and 1,300 books. He became a certified electrician, plumber and carpenter. He was sentenced to 8-25 years and promised Parole Board member the Rev. James Atterbury that he would dedicate his life to helping others.

Upon his release in 2005, Johnson volunteered to speak to block clubs and schools before Goodwill Industries hired him for $40,000 to help ex-offenders. Johnson now runs the Total Lifestyle, a company that offers professional speaking and fitness training. He is also an author.

Now keep in mind his victim is still dead while all this positive affirmation is going on.

Others took notice, including entertainer Steve Harvey, who named Johnson the nation's best community organizer in 2008. In appearances for Maury Povich, Johnson scares straight promiscuous or drug-using teens.

"He has the ability to hear the pain in their heart," said Paul Faulhaber, executive producer of "Maury."

More TV references in place of common sense.

"Raphael has proven he's honest, dedicated and he is a leader. People should give him a chance."

'You'll never say I sold out'
( just that I killed an innocent bystander over a piece of cake )

In high school, Johnson led groups such as People Against Cigarette Smoking. In prison, he defused arguments that could have turned violent over ramen noodles.

These days, he's on the streets, leading neighborhood brigades to reduce crime.

A month ago, a group of men led by Johnson canvassed an eastside neighborhood with radios and sirens, efforts that Evans said led to the arrest of a rape suspect.

Last Thursday, Johnson led about 50 men on the east side looking for suspects in the drive-by shooting of 13-year-old Dreia Davis, who was injured in the gang-related incident.

They gathered five blocks east of Pershing High School, handed out leaflets, prayed and encouraged teens to speak to police, saying "don't snitch, just tell." The group tracked down cars that matched the description of a vehicle used in the shooting and forwarded the details to police, who are still investigating.

"If it don't stop with my daughter, it could be yours tomorrow. It's time to take back our streets," said Curtis White, 39, the girl's father, who joined the search.

Crime is central to Johnson's council campaign, which he vows will include no mudslinging and rely heavily on door-to-door campaigning. He said he's often up until 3 a.m., spreading his message to take back the streets.

"We talk about Cobo, regionalism, privatization and city assets, but most citizens in the city are concerned about pulling up in their driveway and wondering if somebody is lurking behind a bush or a garbage can or their home because they can't even see because we have lights turned out," Johnson said.

"I'm not perfect by far, but you'll never say I sold out. Most people have not been tested. (Detroiters) need somebody who's already been tested. I'm unbreakable at this point."

WHAT? Unbreakable? Is that what they call murderers in the big house or is that what they called you at the funeral service for your victim?

If anything has be tested, it's that your uncontrollable rage has killed once already.

Regret is not the same as redemption.

Johnson spoke from his campaign offices on Van Dyke near Seven Mile, where he plots his latest comeback -- jumping from the back of the pack to the top nine in the council race. His favorite poem, "Invictus," is prominently displayed.

It reads in part: "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul."

(come betwixt my cake and I and feel my unbreakable wrath.)

_______________________________________________________

You want to redeem yourself and your life after murdering someone over a piece of cake by doing good the rest of your life then great, go do good.

But it certainly doesn't mean you'll ever be worthy of the respect and trust demanded to lead law abiding citizens.

It certainly doesn't mean you should be entrusted by the public you hope to govern because you've realized the errors of your ways for such a spontaneous, emotional and ego driven crime

It doesn't mean the Michigan Chronicle needs run to the defense of a man they DID NOT lose a loved one to.

As I said.

Regret doesn't mean redemption.

You have paid your debt to society.

But paying your debt to society at large does not mean you have repaired the moral, ethical and emotional damage caused by your crime and its ever lasting effect on the victim and the victims family.

Mark Sanford's Penis Is Insatiable - The US Army To Surround And Pacify It.

Republicans have no frigging idea what to do now.

Mark Sanford's summer adventure to Argentina -- no, he was not hiking the Appalachian Trail, as his aides incorrectly told reporters -- is now a full-fledged personal and family embarrassment, a story of infidelity followed by a public confession of the kind that has become all too familiar from political leaders.

But Sanford's story is more than personal. For a Republican Party down on its luck, the governor's disappearance and subsequent rambling apology to his wife, his family, his close friends and all the people of South Carolina draw more unwelcome publicity to a party that needs but cannot seem to get any good news

Republicans in Congress have been trying to develop a more effective response to President Obama and the Democrats, and there is a sense among some GOP lawmakers and strategists that they have slowly begun to identify the president's vulnerabilities. But polls show that Republicans have made little progress since the election. The latest Washington Post-ABC News survey found Republicans lower in favorability (not a real word) than at any point since the early 1990s. Obama enjoys huge advantages in public trust.

"If Republicans talk about family values, people will roll their eyes," said Matthew Dowd, a onetime adviser to President George W. Bush who later broke with the president. Dowd said Obama's big budget deficits leave him and Democrats vulnerable on that issue, but he added, "It's hard to say [voters are] going to trust Republicans on it."

Enough...

These people are entrusted with leading us and they can't keep it in their pants.

From Bill Clinton's cigar tainted BJ in the oval office.

To Sarah Palin's bastard grandchild.

To Larry Craig's glory hole adventures.

To John Ensign's trim on the side.

To Mark Sanford's Argentinian senorita~.

What The F@ck ?!?

I wouldn't dare pull this sh@t at my work even if I wanted to.

These are our leaders?

Is it egomania? Is it megalomania? Is it nymphomania?

Seriously... just rub one out in the bathroom or something if your sex drive is so out of control.

That's why Al Gore invented the Internet....PORN!

I can't take these people, democrats and republicans alike, seriously anymore.

I just can't.

The United States is in the worst conditions it's been in 50 years and collectively the US government representation is getting it's rocks off more than anyone I knew in the 80's.

These are the people in charge, the people most important to the most powerful nation ever seen on the face of the planet and they are getting their jollys on OUR dime.

Or OUR Trillions if you prefer.

I am no prude but then again I am not getting my butt rimmed while millions of Americans go without health care or suffer job loss or humiliating foreclosure or war or terrorism or (insert one of a thousand reasons) and are counting on me to FIX IT!

These people are graced with the privilege of walking in the hallowed halls of this millenniums greatest democratic theorists and leaders and what do they do with it?

Leave stains...

Let's review.

-- Democrat Bill Clinton (1998): His affair with intern Monica Lewinsky may very well go down as the biggest sex scandal in American history. It resulted his impeachment (although he wasn't convicted by the Senate), the Starr Report, and the introduction of cast of characters including Linda Tripp and Lucianne Goldberg.

-- Republican Bob Livingston (1998): In the aftermath of the Lewinsky scandal, Livingston became speaker replacing Newt Gingrich. But it was short-lived after admitting an affair and stepping down.

-- Democrat Gary Condit (2001): The California congressman’s affair with an intern became exposed after the girl, Chandra Levy, disappeared. It dominated national news before Sept. 11th. Levy was eventually found dead in a DC’s Rock Creek Park and someone else was charged her murder this year.

-- Republican Rudy Giuliani (2002): There was no greater New York tabloid story than former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s high-profile divorce from wife Donna Hanover. She accused him of “notorious adultery,” and Giuliani is now married to then-girlfriend Judith Nathan.

-- Democrat Jim McGreevey (2004): The married with children former New Jersey governor -- with his wife by his side -- resigned as governor after dropping the bombshell that he was having a gay affair. “My truth is I am a gay American,” left watchers slack jawed and serves still as one most stunning political press conferences of all time.

-- Republican James West (2005): The Spokane mayor, who long opposed gay rights bills, was recalled from office after a gay Internet sex scandal and more were revealed. He died a year later from complications with cancer.

-- Republican Don Sherwood (2006): The then-65-year-old Pennsylvania congressman lost his House seat after it was revealed that he’d had an extramarital affair with a 29-year-old woman who’d called 911 from a closet in Sherwood’s DC apartment, charging that he’d choked her. He claimed he was just giving her a back rub. The woman had filed a lawsuit against him for $5.5 million, charging he’d repeatedly abused her during their relationship. She settled for about $500,000.

-- Republican Mark Foley (2006): A text message gay page scandal ended Foley’s career and gave his Florida congressional seat to Democrats – albeit for one term.

-- Democrat Gavin Newsom (2007): The married San Francisco mayor admitted to sleeping with the wife of a top aide. But was it a career-ender? No. He’s running for governor.

-- Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa (2007): Weeks after separating from his wife, the Los Angeles Mayor admitting to having a secret affair with a TV reporter. It, too, wasn’t a career ender (not a real word). He was poised to run for California governor before deciding against it this week.

-- Republican David Vitter (2007): The married Louisiana senator got caught up in the DC Madam prostitution scandal. But after his wife chastised the media at Vitter’s mea culpa press conference, he’s stuck it out. And despite the scandal, he’s favored to win re-election in 2010 – because of Democrats’ current lack of a committed candidate.

-- Republican Larry Craig (2007): “I’m not gay,” were the words that made headlines from the press conference where the Idaho senator professed his innocence of charges that he had solicited gay sex in a bathroom stall in the Minneapolis airport after he’d pleaded guilty to those charges.

-- Democrat Tim Mahoney (2008): The man who replaced Foley was eventually derailed by his OWN sex scandal, and the seat went back to the GOP.

-- Democrat Eliot Spitzer (2008): Always to be remembered as “Client No. 9,” the meteoric rise of the career of Spitzer came crashing down after it was revealed he’d spent tens of thousands of dollars on hookers -- despite being married with kids.

-- Democrat John Edwards (2008): After the National Enquirer exposed Edwards’ affair, the one-time Democratic shooting star finally admitted to sleeping with a woman his campaign hired to shoot Web videos despite his wife’s very public bout with cancer and his 2008 presidential run.

-- Republican Vito Fossella (2008): The married former congressman from Staten Island, who had three children with his wife, admitted he’d had a secret affair with a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel -- who’d birthed his love child in Virginia -- after he was arrested for drunken driving. Democrats took over his seat in 2008.

-- Democrats Kwame Kilpatrick (2008): The Detroit mayor eventually ended up in jail after he was convicted of lying about a text message/sex scandal.

-- Republican John Ensign (2009): The Nevada senator admitted an affair with a staffer last week, stepped down from his GOP leadership post and all but eliminated his 2012 aspirations.

-- Republican Mark Sanford (2009): The South Carolina governor admitted to having an affair with a woman from Argentina after not being heard from for six days, his staff telling the media he’d been “hiking on the Appalachian Trail,” and state legislators -- and even his wife -- not knowing where he was.

Don't Call Me Liz

For better or for worse, you have to feel for Elizabeth Becton, and for the assistant at a Washington lobbying group who made the mistake of calling her "Liz" in an e-mail.
Tips to ensure that e-mails sent quickly are also considerate.

Becton is executive assistant and office manager for Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., and in a one-hour period last month, she got angry at a lobbyist at McBee Strategic Consultanting, who sounded a touch too chummy when trying to set up a meeting between the congressman and some representatives of JPMorgan Chase.

If I wanted you to call me by any other name, I would have offered that to you. I think it's rude when people don't even ask permission and take all sorts of liberties with your name. This is a real sore spot with me. My name has a lot of "nicknames" which I don't use. I use either my first name or my last name because I row with a lot of other women who share the same first name. Now, please do not ever call me by a nickname again.

As for your meeting request, who is the point of contact for this meeting? If it's not you, then I need to know who because it's very time-consuming to deal with a lot of people for one meeting.

Thanks,

Let me put it this way, they don't know me and perhaps they were PRETENDING to know me better than they do and pretended that I go by Liz. They did YOU a disservice.

In the future, you should be VERY careful about such things. People like to brag about their connections in DC. It's a past time for some. It's also dangerous to eaves drop, as you have just found out.

Quit apologizing and never call me anything but Elizabeth again. Also, make sure you correct anyone who attempts to call me by any other name but Elizabeth. Are we clear on this? Like I said, it's a hot button for me.

And please don't call the office and not leave a message. My colleague told me you called while I was away at the Ladies' room. I do sometimes leave my desk.

Here is the real deal along with some very funny comments from people

Elizabeth J Becton, Congressional Staffer - Salary Data

I guess this nut job makes like $88,000.00 a year.

I can't even get a job and this PMS spokesperson makes 88 grand a year!!!

She must have some kind of mystical, magical rack or cooter or both.

If I ever spoke like that at work I would be terminated THEN prosecuted.

Liz...your just what in the "olden days" we used to call a secretary...get over the f-ing power trip and buy yourself a dildo, pocket rocket or something.

Sheesh.

Looks like she has a facebook page too in the Washington D.C. Network.....good luck with that Liz.

Liz, yes LIZ, your behavior was despicable. If my admins ever carried on in such a childish and manner way she would have been out on her ass before the sun went down. Regardless of what you want to be called, your job is not to lecture and harangue people for a simple honest mistake. Your job is to represent your Congressman to the citizens of this country that pay your and his salary and you have reflected badly on your Congressman. You are a public SERVANT, its time you grew up and acted like one or find a less demanding job that doesn't involve dealing with other human beings.

Wayne County Executive Unfit For Duty

Ficano proposes 500 job cuts

Wayne Co. executive, facing $105M deficit, introduces plan for 20% spending reduction

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano is proposing to lay off 500 employees, dramatically shrink Sheriff's services and consolidate services to balance the budget -- and warning that more layoffs could be coming if his plan isn't approved.

Facing a deficit of about $105 million, Ficano introduced the $2 billion plan Wednesday, calling for a 20 percent reduction in spending and seeking concessions in wages and benefits that include 12 unpaid days a year for employees. If not, another 440 of the county's 4,900 employees could lose their jobs, Ficano warned.

"This is something that has been very challenging, but we feel that we wanted to make the tough decisions," Ficano said. "We're asking that everybody get to their core functions of what they do."

Ficano also wants his appointees to take a 10 percent wage cut and eliminate $700 monthly car stipends and the Sheriff's Office to abandon all services beyond operating the jail and patrolling parks.

source

_____________________________________________

A 10% pay cut! Could you imagine your boss asking you that?

I have a slightly more effective suggestion.

Since poor management starts at the top and positions, like janitors for example, would be the least responsibility for the county's woes;

1) Examine the salaries from the lowliest paid Wayne County employee to the Executive position Ficano holds and divide that (incredibly vast) spectrum into 100 levels.

2) Start pay cuts at Ficano's level at 100% working your way down to 1% pay cuts for the least responsible positions.

I call it "My 2 step plan" to quickly and effectively eradicate the county's least capable employees.

What Robert Ficano doesn't seem to want to mention is that Wayne County is the probably the richest county by tax base in Michigan while being in arguably the worst condition of all the counties in Michigan.

Wayne county regardless of the economy should be in the best condition of all the counties in Michigan but take a look around...what a dung heap this place has become.

If Wayne County was YOUR business and Robert Ficano was the manager you hired to run it, what would you be doing about now?

Dick Cheney's Daughter Waterboarded

Former US Vice-President Dick Cheney has urged the CIA to release memos which he says show harsh interrogation techniques such as water-boarding work.

His comments follow the publication of memos written by Bush administration lawyers which justified the techniques.

Mr Cheney said that the decision to publish the memos was a mistake.

And it was misleading, he said, because the documents did not include those demonstrating that harsh interrogation delivered intelligence "success".

"One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is that they put out the legal memos... but they didn't put out the memos that show the success of the effort," Mr Cheney told Fox News.

"There are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified. I formally ask that they be declassified now."

The American people should have a chance to weigh the intelligence obtained alongside the legal debate, he said.

Nice Dick...real nice...

Let's play pretend again shall we?

Could we make your daughter admit she is really straight instead of homosexual by some simple water boarding techniques you condone?

I bet we could.

Probably would make you look like less of a hypocrite for being anti-gay and pro-torture if you killed two birds with one stone by torturing your own blood into being straight like God intended.

Lets face it, there was a reason these documents and memos were classified to begin with...it's anti-American to torture and you were afraid of what Americans...real Americans, would think of your policies should they have seen the light of day while you were in office.

Forget prosecuting the CIA for these crimes...prosecute Cheney and Bush...they signed off on it.

Leaders Speaking Truth Step Forward

Top Republican says Palin unready

Senator Chuck Hagel could be influential with independent voters
Senior Republican Senator Chuck Hagel has voiced doubts about Sarah Palin's qualifications for the vice-presidency.

John McCain's running mate "doesn't have any foreign policy credentials", Mr Hagel told the Omaha World-Herald.

Mr Hagel was a prominent supporter of Mr McCain during his 2000 bid for the US presidency, but has declined to endorse either candidate this year.
He was opposed to the Iraq War, and recently joined Mr McCain's rival Barack Obama on a Middle East trip.

Mr Hagel also criticised the McCain campaign for its suggestion that the proximity of Alaska to Russia gave Mrs Palin foreign policy experience.

"I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia'," he said.

"That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

Finally a Republican leader who speaks the truth backed by common sense.

Chuck Hagel and Ron Paul are what the Republican party are SUPPOSED to be about.

There are so few real leaders anymore but these two gentlemen are just that...Leaders and leaders not afraid to buck party lines to state the obvious.

Ron Paul Rejects Plea To Endorse McCain

Paul rejects plea to endorse McCain

Republican Rep. Ron Paul, the Libertarian-leaning lawmaker who attracted a devoted following in the GOP primaries, said Wednesday he rejected an appeal to endorse John McCain's presidential bid.

And Paul said the request came from Phil Gramm, the former McCain adviser whom the campaign jettisoned after he said the country was a "nation of whiners" about the economy.

I love Ron Paul, he is who I originally wanted to vote for as President, I wish his bid for the office of President would have had more legs.

Ron Paul ignores party lines and speaks common sense, his plans show promise with a resolutions at their end.....all other candidates pale in comparison to Ron as far as I am concerned.

Rock on Ron Paul....Rock on.
