Ohio? Who needs em?

Ohio woman bills Michigan $16 for work zone delay

An Ohio woman has sent Michigan transportation officials a bill for the $16 she says she wasted on gasoline sitting in construction zone traffic. Carol Greenberg complained there were no signs warning about the work on southbound Interstate 275 where it merges with I-75 near Newport, Michigan, about 27 miles north of Toledo.

So, she said she got stuck idling for about 50 minutes on July 23 while trying to get home to the Toledo suburbs with her cat after a visit to a specialty veterinarian outside Detroit. She said her Maine coon cat, Sammy, didn't like the delay either and howled the entire time.

In a response letter, the Michigan Department of Transportation says it's not able to reimburse drivers for time, wages, or gas lost in work zone back-ups.

Oh God where to begin?

How anal retentive do you have to be to go through with a hair brained idea like this?

I mean seriously we all fantasize on the road...

For me it's blowing away people with Ohio plates taking up two lanes and going too slow with a cat in a box in the back of their car.

...but how many of us get home and continue the insanity?

You know she had to figure out who to write to, where to write, make up a bill on the back of her mental hospital admittance record and draw a stamp in the corner of the envelope with a crayon.

This took some time....some crazy time.

First, if you are hauling your cat from Ohio into Michigan to see a "specialty veterinarian" you can afford the $16 bucks.

Second, You can also afford a new cat.

Third, you can also afford either a radio to drown out the cat or earmuffs for you to not hear the cat OR for the cat since your jamming the radio so loud.

Fourth, you can afford to move out of Ohio.

Fifth, I will be sending Carol Greenberg a bill for the ten minutes of my life wasted on her bullshit, current rates for my service indicate she owes me $18 dollars and 32 cents.

See you on the kooky train to crazy town...

Big Oil, OPEC, You And I

Obama backs some drilling, tapping oil stockpile

Source

Barack Obama put forward a broad energy plan Monday designed to end U.S. reliance on imported oil within 10 years and shore up his standing amid a tightening White House race and high-anxiety over gas prices.

Obama's proposal, though, includes two significant reversals of positions he has taken in the past: He had steadfastly fought the idea of limited new offshore drilling and was against tapping the nation's emergency oil stockpile to relieve pump prices that have stubbornly hovered around $4 a gallon.

In a speech in Michigan, the Democratic presidential nominee in waiting also endorsed long-term work on hybrid cars and renewable energy sources.

"Breaking our oil addiction is one of the greatest challenges our generation will ever face," the Illinois Democrat told a supportive audience as he embarked on a week to focus on energy issues. "It will take nothing less than a complete transformation of our economy," he said.

Presumed Republican nominee Sen. John McCain, speaking in Pennsylvania, again advocated more oil drilling off the U.S. coast. "Anybody who says that we can achieve energy independence without using and increasing these existing energy resources either doesn't have the experience to understand the challenge that we face or isn't giving the American people some straight talk," he said.

Obama said that U.S. politicians have failed for three decades to deal with the energy crisis, and that McCain has been "part of that failure." He called tapping the petroleum reserves a short-term solution to a long-term problem.

"Like George Bush and Dick Cheney before him," Obama said of the Arizonan, "he sees more drilling as the answer to all of our energy problems, and like them, he's found a receptive audience in the very same oil companies that have blocked our progress for so long. In fact, he raised more than one million dollars from big oil just last month."

I am tired of our country being totally enslaved by foreign oil interests and big oil companies at home.

I would be willing to put up with quite a bit of hardship in order to get it accomplished, I think many Americans would, IF it resulted in being independent from oil forever.

But unfortunately many Americans no longer trust their elected leaders because they do not lead.

Bipartisan effort never occurs anymore, I don't think it has since WWII.

It's a shame and a sham the way America has been sold out by our elected officials to professional lobby groups and special interest donation bankrolls.

I don't think this is what the founding fathers had in mind.

Bankers Insurance Or Some Such Crap

Well now I have them calling my cell phone, so not only do I get email job offers from less than ethical institutions, now it's on my dime by calling my cell phone.

This one's script went something like this:

_______________________________________

My Future Career: Hello, can I speak with Veritas?

Me: This is.

MFC: I am from Banker's blah blah blah (so fast I almost didn't catch it) are you still looking for full time work? (a mistake..the whole world is looking for full time work, reputable places wouldn't make the distinction, they would just ask if your still available or not for an interview.)

Me: Yes I am

MFC: Well I would like to invite you to our managerial inductee training seminar? (another mistake..a reputable employer would ask if you would like to interview, not if you want to be invited to a seminar.)

Me: What where did you say you were calling from?

MFC: huh?

Me: Which employer are you with? (caught her off guard, she was so into the script she wasn't ready for a curve ball, it would be a no brainer for a reputable employer bvecause they aren't reading a script.)

MFC: Oh, Banker's Insurance. (it was something like that, this whole conversation is going so fast I can hardly tell.)

Me: Oh, is this insurance?

MFC: Well...Yes it is.

Me: No thank you I am not interested.

MFC: Well we don't cold call sell or or do blind door to door. (last mistake, you just told me you sell insurance, you want me to sell insurance AND this has nothing to do with management at all....ever..... I have Information Technology written ALL over my resume, these people are just harvesting them and calling people from a script, yeah I want to work for someone like you.)

Me: No thank you. (if I have to say no thanks twice, your trying to sell me...and it ain't working.)

Oh well, leave me a comment let me know if your job searches are getting the same spectacular results or maybe what am I doing wrong?

P.S. Don't you love that telemarketing cube workstation photo at top? I would rather been unemployed than EVER have to sit in a human veal station like those above.

What are the drawers even for in those cubes?

Your hand gun in the top one, bullets in the second and goodbye note in the third and maybe some sticky notes and white out.
