Kilpatrick Chooses To Not Pay Court Ordered Fines

Kilpatrick, Compuware subpoenaed

Worthy alleges failure to meet probation terms

Subpoenas were issued Friday ordering former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his employer, Compuware, to turn over records prosecutors believe will show he violated probation and hid his true financial worth.

Why would Compuware employ a known criminal in such a high paying position?

Orders to immediately produce documents concerning Kilpatrick's pay and assets were authorized by Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner at the request of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Kilpatrick is expected to return from his Texas home next month to attend an Oct. 28 hearing before Groner on the prosecutor's allegations that Kilpatrick has "flagrantly" and "willfully" failed to meet terms of his probation stemming from guilty pleas to felony assault and obstruction of justice charges he entered last year in the text message scandal.

A second subpoena issued to Compuware demands "all payroll records, records of disbursements, including but not limited to payroll records, commission payments and or advances, car allowances, travel allowances, loans, gifts and or any other benefits and or payments made to Kwame Kilpatrick or any third party on his behalf for January 2009 to present."

Kilpatrick's lawyer, Michael Alan Schwartz, said earlier this week his client denies violating probation. Schwartz said he's not sure Worthy ever presented Kilpatrick with documents needed to transfer his bond and pension assets.

Alan PULLEEZE! Kim Worthy's office and legal administrative efforts have been nothing short of spectacularly pristine. What a pathetic excuse, is that what all those years of legal eduction get you in terms of legal expertise?...Shoot I could do that.

Schwartz labeled the coming hearing in Groner's court as "a public relations event."

Alan you just tied your wagon to Detroit's most famous criminal..probably not your best move.

Schwartz wasn't available for comment Friday. Representatives for Compuware could not be reached for comment.

Of course not, the parties most humilted by events tend to shy aware from the public eye.

Groner in March set a payment schedule based on 30 percent of Kilpatrick's monthly income.

Payments were set at $6,000 per month because the judge was told Kilpatrick would earn a base salary of $120,000, plus advances that doubled his monthly income during the first six months he worked as a salesman in Texas for Compuware subsidiary Covisint.

As part of his plea-bargain agreement, which averted a trial on multiple felony charges, Kilpatrick agreed to resign his office, serve jail time, give up his law license, not run for office during five years of probation and pay the city $1 million in restitution.

Pay stubs obtained by The Detroit News show Kilpatrick was paid $57,000 during his first six months as a salesman for Covisint. Kilpatrick also took $60,000 in advances on expected bonuses and commissions.

I know this much, I won't be buying any Covisint or Compuware products anytime soon.

This guy ruins Detroit, lives in a Texas mansion in a gated community, gets a cushy job at a "Detroit based" business, drives a Escalade and STILL tries to get out of what payments the court ordered him to provide.

How fast would you or I be in jail if we pulled this crap?

...and people say there isn't any class preferential treatment in this country....yeah right.

FOLLOW UP - Kitten Killer Caught

What does a piece of shit coward look like?

Police arrest suspect in Roseville cat-killing

Roseville -- A man accused of killing a family cat by stuffing it into a washing machine was arrested Wednesday night, saying he did it because the pet "was bothering" him, police said.

Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin said detectives tracked Ty-Shawn Eric Bost to a Highland Park apartment complex, where he was taken into custody without incident about 6 p.m.

Bost was transported to the Roseville Police Department, where he confessed, saying he killed the cat because "it was bothering me," police said.

Oh well, if it was bothering your idiot ass, I can understand.

The 19-year-old is being held in the department jail pending an arraignment at 1 p.m. today on felony charges of second-degree home invasion and killing and torturing an animal. The offenses could land him in prison for up to 15 years.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office approved the charges Wednesday afternoon for Bost, whose last known address was near Six Mile and Gratiot on Detroit's east side.

Bost is believed to have at least one prior arrest in Detroit, but police Wednesday declined to provide details about his record.

Police said after he stole video games, cash and a laptop computer from Kimberly Ross' home on Beaconsfield on Monday, Bost placed the kitten, Ruby, into a front-loading washing machine and turned it on, killing her.

Ross and her daughter, Lacey, 13, returned home just before 11 p.m. that night and heard a "clunking sound" coming from the washing machine. Ruby was found lifeless, spinning around inside.

Ross' daughter Dayna was glad to hear police had a suspect Wednesday.

"It wouldn't matter to us if this person was 10 or 90; someone came into our house, violated our space and killed one of the members of our family," said Dayna Ross, 20.

"It's just heartless."

Berlin declined to reveal how police were able to link Bost to the crime, but said he did not know the family he allegedly victimized.

The Michigan Humane Society is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, and CrimeStoppers is offering $1,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department at (586) 775-2100 or call (800) 773-2587.

Good job police department. I hope he gets what's coming to him in prison.

Kitten Killed By Cowards In Roseville.

Police: Burglar killed cat in washing machine

Roseville -- Police are seeking the public's help in tracking down burglars who killed a family's cat by stuffing it into a washing machine and turning it on, leaving it for the horrified owners to find.

Kimberly Ross and her 13-year-old daughter, Lacey, said they returned to their home on Beaconsfield just before 11 p.m. Monday and heard a "clunking sound" coming from the washing machine.

Ross, 50, said she initially thought there was something behind the washer. But then, she moved the laundry basket aside and was devastated to find her beloved kitten Ruby, lifeless, spinning around inside the front-loading machine.

"I couldn't believe my eyes," said Ross, tearfully as she clutched several photos of the tabby cat. "I thought, 'No.' I just couldn't believe it."

Ross said she spent the next few minutes trying to figure out how the 5-pound kitten could have gotten inside the machine and turned it on. But once she ventured back inside, Ross realized thieves had rummaged through her home, stealing coins, a laptop, video games and Coach shoes, before killing the cat in the washing machine.

"They (the thieves) have no care for anything," said Ross' daughter, Dayna, 20. "What was the cat going to do? She probably greeted the person at the window, licking their face."

Kimberly Ross bought Ruby earlier this year as a birthday gift to herself. Ross chose Ruby, who was the runt of the litter of kittens born in February, because she "couldn't resist her little face."

The Michigan Humane Society Monday is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Ruby's death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department at (586) 775-2100.

Detroit News Can't Connect The Dots

Violent crime on the decline in Detroit, FBI statistics show

Crime dropped in Detroit and in most large Michigan cities in 2008, according to statistics released today by the FBI.

The Michigan statistics were in line with the national trend. Across the United States, violent crimes declined 1.9 percent in 2008 and property crimes dropped 0.8 percent, the FBI reported.

Detroit had 17,428 violent crimes in 2008, down 11.6 percent from 19,708 in 2007, the FBI said. Property crimes in Detroit fell 8.9 percent, to 53,095 from 58,302 in 2007, the bureau said.

Wow...big whoopee doo

What The Detroit News failed to connect the dots on was that population in Detroit has fallen every year at very nearly the same rate.

According to the U.S. census bureau between 2006 and 2007 Detroit's population fell 11%.

11% again between 2005 and 2006.

11% between 2004 and 2005.

source

You get the idea.

Population for the state of Michigan fell about exactly the same rate.

source

What was The Detroit News trying to report on?

What kind of a piece of fluff was this?

Didn't they even notice that the crime rate was falling at almost the exact same rate as the population of Detroit?

It took me about 2 minutes to find the facts, didn't they even try?

Did the editor read it?

So you can rest assured, crime probably has not gone down one iota in Detroit in the past year but rather is on the same trend as the exodus leaving the state.

Property crimes in Detroit may have actually risen if 11% of the people left and property crime only fell 8.9%

Joe Wilson Attacks Americans

House Democrats to Wilson: Apologize or Face Censure

Democrats had threatened to censure Rep. Joe Wilson unless he apologized on the House floor for accusing President Obama of lying during his address to a joint session of Congress. Wilson refused to do so.

On the House floor where President Obama spoke just a half-day earlier, two words shouted by a Republican congressman reverberated louder than the finer points of the health care debate.

Wilson called the White House shortly after Obama's speech to say he was out of line. The White House said early Thursday that the president accepted the apology.

But that did not put the issue to rest, and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, also of South Carolina, asked Wilson to apologize on the House floor in front of his colleagues. The final vote of the day was held open by Democrats to give him an opportunity to do so, but he refused.

Democrats threatened to censure Wilson absent such an apology. So far they have not done it -- but even though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said earlier that a censure was not being considered, her top deputies kept it in the mix.

House leaders debated future disciplinary steps against Wilson at a weekly closed-door strategy session in Pelosi's office Thursday.

"I want Mr. Wilson to come to the floor of the House and apologize," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. He indicated that House leaders did not reach a conclusion on sanctioning Wilson.

"We need to figure out what to do," said one senior member of the leadership team. Another high-level House source suggested that lawmakers didn't want to let Wilson's transgression go unpunished "because of the magnitude" of the accusation directed at Obama.

In strictly political terms, Wilson's outburst appeared to be a winner for Democrats.

According to one Democratic source, Wilson's Democratic opponent Rob Miller had by mid-day Thursday received 5,000 new contributions worth about $200,000 in the aftermath of the outburst. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was also trying to raise money off the heckling. Miller lost to Wilson in the 2008 election, 54-46 percent

Wilson's House Web site crashed after he was identified Wednesday night as the heckler and he took a beating on his Twitter page for breaching protocol. House rules expressly prohibit lawmakers from calling the president a "liar" or accusing him of "lying."

But Wilson has tried to put the genie back in the bottle after he drew immediate, widespread and bipartisan criticism Wednesday. Shortly after the speech ended, Wilson issued a written apology and spoke with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to say he was sorry.

Obama on Thursday extended his forgiveness.

"I'm a big believer that we all make mistakes. He apologized quickly and without equivocation, and I'm appreciative of that," Obama told reporters.

In the face of persistent criticism, Republicans started to come to Wilson's defense.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham told FOX News that Wilson should not be judged on those two words.

"He corrected his mistake. His mouth spoke before his mind," said Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., chief deputy whip.

Wilson's outburst immediately followed Obama's statement: "There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

House Minority Leader John Boehner said Thursday that, according to a Congressional Research Service report, illegal immigrants would indeed be covered, defending Wilson's assertion even though he called the manner in which he delivered it "inappropriate."

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs insisted Thursday that illegal immigrants would be prohibited from buying into a health insurance exchange created by the federal government.

Wilson said Thursday he wants to have a "civil discussion" on health care, calling his comments "spontaneous."

Democrats are walking a fine line in deciding whether to pursue a censure. While some Democrats want to punish Wilson, others are worried the action could distract from the health care reform effort.

Obama hinted at that view when asked about Wilson Thursday.

"I do think that, as I said last night, we have to get to the point where we can have a conversation about big, important issues that matter to the American people, without vitriol, without name-calling," he said. "The media can always be helpful by not giving all the attention to the loudest or shrillest voices and try to stay a little bit more focused on the issues at hand."

What a kind of a idiot interrupts the President of the Unites States of America in one of America's previously dignified and prestigious government buildings as he attempts to address all of America's citizens?

Where previous presidents vowed victory over tyranny, abolished slavery, planned for recovery from national adversity for the last 200 years...who would deface one of our most revered and honorable offices and hallowed halls?

Republican representative Joe Wilson from South Carolina... that's who.

The U.S government is trying to address it's citizens with status on proposed legislation concerning virtually every American except the independently wealthy and you call the president of the United States a liar?

If Mr. Wilson is so lacking in control of his oral orifice he couldn't keep it from barking out loud is he really fit to govern?

To represent his constituents?

Is this the new face of the republican party?

Will our previously formal and respectful meetings of our elected officials now turn into the shouting matches and fist fights seen in other countries governing bodies?

It doesn't really matter if they censure Joe Wilson or not, the damage to our shared national self respect and any iota of bi-partisan respect is irreparably and irrecoverably damaged.

If you don't respect the man or his political ideology, then respect the office of president like our governing officials have for the last 200 plus years.

Your childish behavior, lack of decorum have left Americans disgusted and ashamed.

Thank Joe for lowering the level of respect Americans used to have for their elected officials.

Granholm Destroys Michigan

Granholm budget proposal: Cut $2B, hike taxes $1B

Bottled water, tickets to live events and pop out of a vending machine would be taxed and smokers would pay more under a budget plan Gov. Jennifer Granholm released for the first time Tuesday.

The plan calls for nearly $2.2 billion in budget cuts, $1.09 billion in tax hikes and tax credit reductions and about $2 billion in federal stimulus money spending in the next two years.

But fellow Democrat and House Speaker Andy Dillon, in a rare public clash with the governor, called the plan "showboating" and "theatrics" and said it has "no chance of passing."

Granholm's plan is one of the proposals offered in budget talks. She and legislative leaders will work behind closed doors to strike a deal before the new fiscal year starts Oct. 1.

Under her plan, Granholm would cut government spending by 12 percent and reduce business tax loopholes -- including controversial film credits -- by a similar proportion.

As previously reported, the governor would raise the cigarette tax by a quarter to $2.25 a pack; assess the 6 percent sales tax on tickets to live entertainment, vending machine sales and service contracts such as landscaping; and slap a 1 percent tax on bottled water.

No one has enough money to go to live entertainment venues anymore, only the economically deprived are still smoking so in effect it's a tax on the working or non-working poor only, put a 10 cent deposit in bottled water instead of a 1% tax like every other bottle in Michigan and finally I guarantee only the middle or lower class are using vending machines, I almost never see an Onassis or Kennedy at the pop machine.

In exchange, she proposes phasing out the 22 percent Michigan Business Tax surcharge over three years, beginning in 2011. Revenue sharing that local governments use to fund police and fire protection and other services would lose $74 million.

Get rid of police and fire funding.....sheer brilliance...is she nuts?

Also, $22 million would be squeezed out of the governor's pet 21st Century Jobs Fund used to attract business, ( which never worked ) and $12 million would be trimmed from a pot used for road improvements ( which to anyone who lives in Michigan knows, we have the worst roads in the country, so this never worked either ) to support economic development, state budget officials said.

The governor does not propose any reduction in the $4,000 Promise Grants for students who complete statewide high school exams and go on to college. ( because to a state that is already losing over 50% of it's college graduates to other states this would be the death nail to anyone staying in actually unable to move from the state.)

The document does not detail how the tax hikes and spending cuts would affect individuals, but a 1 percent tax on a $1.50 bottle of water would be a penny and a half; a 6 percent levy on a $50 Red Wings ticket would amount to $3.

In the school aid fund, the governor is proposing $290 million in cuts each year ( just how much did the Michigan lottery make last year? ), according to state Budget Director Bob Emerson. Divided by the state's 1.6 million students, that amounts to $181 per pupil in each of the two budget years. The state would use $800 million in federal recovery cash for school aid, budget officials said.

The Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public school system. The first lottery ticket was the Green Ticket which went on sale on November 13, 1972. On October 7, 1975, the first instant game ticket was sold. Online sales began June 6, 1977 with the introduction of the Daily 3 game. The first multi-state ticket sales for the Lottery were on August 31, 1996 for The Big Game (now called Mega Millions). Since its inception, more than $14.5 billion has been contributed to the School Aid Fund.

Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop, R-Rochester, has called for the governor to reveal her budget-balancing plan for weeks. She said this proposal has been on the table in talks with legislative leaders since Aug. 6.

"We have a lot of cuts, some loophole closings and some reforms that will not result in savings for this year," Granholm said after a grand opening ceremony for an IBM applications center at Michigan State University.

Granholm and legislative leaders are working against an Oct. 1 deadline to balance a budget that is $2.8 billion out of whack. Leaders are looking at a similar hole in 2011.

I can figure out HOW it happened...mismanagement by the Granholm administration, it's easy enough to fix, Granholm is at her term limit, that should fix this fairly quickly.

Had she not been positioning herself for a position in the Obama administration and actually trying to do something with the state's financial problems we might not be in quite so deep, but we'll never know...What job will you have in the Obama administration after your tenure as Governor Ms. Granholm?

Will it be worth the level on destruction you have asked this state's citizens to own under your terms?

Matt Marsden, spokesman for Bishop, said the budget balancing can begin in earnest.

Why didn't budget planning begin...oh I don't know...about 4 years ago?

"We were asking her to come out from behind closed doors. If she's finally done that, great," Marsden said.

Granholm said the House was preparing to pass budget bills starting today. But Dillon said that's news to him. "The governor should know that showboating a proposal that has no chance of passing is not a way to solve the state's fiscal crisis," he said. "All parties need to ... get back to the hard work of negotiating a budget solution." AMEN!

The Senate has passed $1.2 billion in budget cuts, including elimination of the Promise Grants and reductions to many human services programs. And the exodus of citizens continues.

The spending reductions laid out in Granholm's document add up to $464 million in the budget year starting Oct. 1 and $518 million in the following fiscal year. But Emerson said these cuts are in addition to the $500 million in cuts the governor proposed in her budget plan in February. The spending reductions would be carried over to 2011.

Her plan calls for $684.8 million in tax credit reductions and tax increases in the budget year that starts Oct. 1 and $662.9 million in the 2011 budget year.

She would cut the film credit by 12 percent, or $7.8 million in 2010 and $19.8 million in 2011. Filmmakers qualify for a 42 percent tax credit, and the 12 percent cut would bring that to 37 percent. Other tax credits would be reduced by $130 million in 2010 and $156 million in 2011.

The film making industry is the ONLY industry even slightly interested in giving Michigan a chance and for all intents and purposes seems to be bearing fruit....yeah slash that brainiac.

Her plan calls for a liquor license fee increase, a fee for allowing bars to stay open extended hours, a doubled tax on tobacco products other than cigarettes ( which will only effect the people too broke to buy actual rolled cigarettes and are attempting to save a few bucks by rolling their own, yeah lets get those dimes from the poor too...what a lame excuse for fiscal capability this decision is.) and a freeze in the amount of personal exemptions from the state income tax. The exemption, indexed to inflation, is $3,600.

What happens in neighborhoods where people foreclose?

The city raises taxes on the remaining citizens, more people foreclose because of the tax hike, then more leave...its a ineffective paradigm.

Now just extend that same faulty logic to the state level like Jennifer Granholm is doing.

What happens? People leave and taxes go up.

If I can figure it out why can't they?

Cough up your $3,600 bucks folks, oh you don't have a job?
