Mackenzie Phillips Was Charged With Cocaine And Heroin Possession

Former "One Day at Time" television star Mackenzie Phillips was charged on Wednesday with cocaine and heroin possession after being arrested last week while going through airport security.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles also charged Philips, 48, with unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe. She is out on $10,000 bail awaiting a first court hearing in October.

I am not getting on the same train wreck every other blog in the world is getting on...what I am writing about is I didn't know that it was illegal to carry a (unauthorized) syringe.

Personally, I would think junkies having clean needles would be preferable just for the disease aspect.

Here in Michigan it is illegal in many cities to have pot paraphenalia, for example those feather roach clips that used to be so damned cool to have in your rear view mirror...illegal

A misdemeanor but illegal.

I kind of think this is bullshit, just a way to get money from fines.

Really what does it stop? Its just piling onto the problem isn't it?

The real issue is the drug addiction right?

Not "the syringe" prblem.

What drug use prevention occurs from these minor infractions?

None...just a waste of time and money, our money the courts time.
